Subject

Spies--United States--History--Revolution, 1775-1783
Account books--New York

Description

This page of Robert Townsend's ledgers connect Abraham Woodhull to Townsend's store just before he wrote about planning to travel to New York City referring to "the assistance of a lady of my acquaintance" on August 15, 1779. This ledger also shows a pattern of cash being changed. Thomas Mount was probably related to Jonas Hawkins, one of the ring's early couriers, and the frequent use of his name may be some sort of coded reference.
