Description

This is Townsend's first report, he assumes the code name "Samuel Culper Junior" to differentiate from Woodhull, who is still reporting sometimes as "Samuel Culper Senior."

He begins reporting after Woodhull falls under suspicion for his frequent trips to Manhattan.

Note the quality of Townsend's early reports rarely include decent military information, but they often have naval information, which was readily accessible to merchants who had a good excuse to spend time around the wharves.
